This session is specially designed for Early Years practitioners, it draws upon the most up to date research and explores how best to support children taking those first steps into mathematics through to stretching and challenging confident mathematicians as they approach key stage one.
We exemplify the importance of key mathematical concepts through classroom activities and games and show how these concepts become the foundations for the rest of the primary curriculum. These include the counting principles, key representations, subitising, pattern, mathematical talk and developing reasoning throughout all stages of development.
We look at our Reception Schemes and show how to use them effectively with all EYFS practitioners when planning for both adult led learning and for provision areas.
This course would be appropriate for class teachers, Early Years Leads or Maths Leads. Middle leaders, Senior Leaders, NQTs and teaching assistants are also welcome.
