Concrete manipulatives and pictorial representations are powerful teaching and learning tools when it comes to developing a deep conceptual understanding of the abstract notations.

Throughout this session, we will explore a range of practical strategies using a few essential resources and representations to creatively support learning within Maths lessons across the school.

During the webinar, we will look at various mathematical ideas and how using manipulatives can support pupils to understand problems as well as a tool to prove ideas and concepts.

We also think about supporting the transition of pupils moving between using manipulatives to pictorial representations and abstract methods, including how and why these work effectively.
