Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 – End of term assessments

Our Secondary termly assessments are now available for Year 7, 8, 9 & 10.

For Years 7, 8 and 9 there are three papers are three papers, Core, Foundation and Higher, together with the appropriate mark scheme in a zipped folder. It is intended that all students sit the Core paper, then using the guidance below, teachers decide which paper is appropriate to set students for their second paper.

A Core paper – it is envisaged that all students will take this paper, to provide a direct comparison with the performance of the rest of the cohort. All topics from each term will be covered, and the use of a calculator is expected.
A Foundation paper – students who are working below national expectations will have the opportunity to show their understanding of the material with more straightforward questions. We recommend that students do not use a calculator for this paper.
A Higher paper – students who are working at or above national expectations will have the opportunity to tackle more challenging questions on the same material, plus the extra objectives indicated as “Higher” in our scheme of learning. We recommend that students do not use a calculator for this paper.

For Year 10 there are calculator and non-calculator papers for both Foundation and Higher GCSE tiers.  Content will focus on what has been studied so far in our KS4 curriculum, but will also include some assessment of prior knowledge of KS3
