What’s the session about?

This more advanced session explores reasoning and problem solving in greater depth. But what is reasoning? What is a problem? Why do we want pupils to be good at problem solving? In this session we consider an integrated approach which draws together fluency, reasoning and problem solving, and explores how these skills can be incorporated into every lesson.

The session focuses on the difficulties pupils face when problem solving. We work through a variety of problems and the strategies available to overcome these. We also develop ways of enabling and extending pupils, and consider how to support different learners.
