Our comprehensive, carefully-designed Jigsaw packages are led by experienced Maths Specialists, who can advise and support schools in getting the most out of our in-depth Maths training. We’re now offering a virtual, whole school package which allows schools and teachers to continue their CPD from the comfort of their own home.
Five core mastery elements are explored during 80-minute webinar sessions which build up a complete picture of effective teaching and learning in Maths. All sessions also offer an optional 10 minute Q&A.

In this session, we will explore a range of practical strategies using a few essential resources and representations to creatively support learning within Maths lessons across the school.

Bar Modelling
Bar modelling is a key element when considering teaching for mastery. In this session we explore how to use Bar Modelling to reveal the structure and patterns within a maths problem, promoting mathematical understanding and insight.

Mathematical Talk and Questioning
As well as promoting the importance of on-going, rich mathematical talk and questioning within the classroom, this session also looks at the key ideas behind modelling and how the use of different talk strategies allows teachers to determine a pupils’ level of understanding.

Reasoning and Problem Solving
Within this session, we explore different strategies to support ALL pupils to have the skills to reason and problem solve. The key elements of these two main aims of the National Curriculum are examined in detail.

Thinking Through Variation
In this session we explore two types of variation in depth – conceptual and procedural. You will gain a clear awareness of the different types of knowledge and how this awareness can help when structuring mathematical tasks for children to explore.

WRM Schemes Explored
This session is designed to support practitioners who want to use our Schemes of Learning to teach for deep and lasting understanding by changing mindsets and building confidence as well as skills.

Exploring EYFS – Developing Early Number
This session is specially designed for Early Years practitioners, it draws upon the most up to date research and explores how best to support children taking those first steps into mathematics and developing a love of learning from a young age.
