In February I was lucky enough to attend the GESS Exhibition at the World Trade Centre in Dubai. GESS is the leading educational conference and exhibition in the Middle East, with three days of inspirational talks and dynamic, hands-on workshops from global industry leaders and influential local practitioners.
This was the 13th Edition of GESS Dubai, and visitors came from 92 countries to see over 550 brands exhibiting their resources or services. I was joined at the exhibition by Head of White Rose Maths, Caroline Hamilton, and Trust Management Accountant Karen Petrillo.
We shared the White Rose Maths vision with visitors from all over the World over the course of the event, with many quite unbelieving that so many of our resources are available for free online. We had particular interest from teachers, headteachers and school owners in Nigeria, India and Abu Dhabi.
We were able to demonstrate to delegates our new premium resources, including Flashback Four and True or False, along with the recently launched CPA online training modules. We also provided a fantastic range of samples, literature and freebies for all those who visited our stand, with our White Rose Maths mint imperials proving particularly popular!
On the Monday prior to the show, we visited the School of Research Science in Dubai, where we were warmly welcomed by Director of Education Michelle Thomas and her fantastic leadership team. We discussed the White Rose Maths schemes, how they can be best implemented in both Primary and Secondary schools, along with the training and support we can provide, both face to face and online. We hope this will prove to be the start of a very fruitful relationship, so keep your eyes peeled for updates.
After the exhibition on Wednesday, we attended the very glamourous GESS Awards event at the H hotel. We had been shortlisted as finalists in our category alongside some stiff competition, so we were delighted to be named as Primary Resource Supplier of the Year! We returned to the exhibition on Thursday morning to show off our shiny new award which made a great addition to the stand.
Now we’re back in the UK, international website orders have already started coming in, and we’ll hope to follow up on some of the fantastic leads we obtained during the three days. We’ll be back in Dubai to provide CPD to schools in the area on the 23rd August, including our courses on Bar Modelling and CPA.
Hopefully we’ll also be back to exhibit at GESS 2021, with more resources and training on offer, and with a chance to enter a few more awards now we have the first one under our belts!
